Some observatories that accept visiting observers.
To be listed, an observatory must have at least one permanently mounted telescope with a ccd camera and must be willing to allow visitors to work with the equipment on their own. Keep in mind, that my intention is ccd photometry of variable stars.
The observatories are listed in random order and they are very different. Equaly different are the conditions under wich observers are accepted. Generally, the telescope time, accomodation, technical assistance have to be payed. But in some cases the amounts are requested separately while in other cases they are included into a total. In some cases it is necessery to contact the responsible persons and to negotiate. In some cases the membership in the respective organisation is required. Larger (professional) observatories request a proposal at least 6 months ahead and accept the visitor only if his planned observation is found to be promissing for the science. Please read the respective homepages carefully.
